Job Title: Graphic Designer – Podcasts & YouTube
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Remote (with occasional visits to London)
Salary: Up to £40,000 (max)
About the Role
We’re recruiting a Graphic Designer specialising in Podcasts and YouTube to join a fast-paced, high-performing audio and video team at a leading media brand.
This role is all about high-impact visual storytelling. You’ll know how to communicate an entire idea in a few pixels creating thumbnails and branding that stop the scroll, drive clicks, and perform on YouTube and podcast platforms.
The environment is busy, creative and deadline-driven. Turnarounds can be fast, and there’s no time to train someone from scratch, so we’re looking for someone confident, platform-aware and ready to deliver from day one.
You’ll work closely with producers, channel managers, videographers and video editors, reporting into the Head of Podcasts, and contributing to both established titles and new launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Design episodic podcast and YouTube assets, including A/B-tested thumbnails
- Create hero branding for platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube
- Transform existing artwork and photography into cinematic, high-performing thumbnails
- Integrate branding into video and social templates
- Elevate existing shows and support the launch of new titles
- Embed into production workflows to ensure visual consistency from the ground up
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Expert-level Photoshop (montage, cut-outs, blending)
- Strong typography, lighting and typesetting skills
- High-level Illustrator and Canva
- Clear understanding of YouTube optimisation and what makes thumbnails perform
- Experience designing for podcasts and YouTube with strong portfolio examples
- Ability to tailor visuals to brand, audience and platform
Desirable:
- Mid-level After Effects
- Social asset experience
Portfolio demonstrates strong YouTube and podcast thumbnail performance.
What Won’t Work
- Screenshots used as thumbnails
- Boring or generic designs
- Assets that don’t consider the platform they’re built for
Working Pattern & Team
- Remote-first role with occasional office visits in London
- Part of a collaborative, well-supported team including video editors, producers and production managers
- Strong emphasis on working closely with video editors
Package & Benefits
- Salary up to £40,000 (absolute maximum)
- 25 days’ holiday (increasing annually up to 30)
- Pension plan and life cover
- Employee discounts and wellbeing support
- Additional benefits available
Portfolio examples of YouTube and podcast thumbnails are essential.
