Fractional Chief Marketing Officer

Role Summary

The Fractional Chief Marketing Officer is the senior marketing operator who steps into under-led, fragmented, or underperforming marketing environments and builds clarity, discipline, and growth momentum. This role aligns brand, positioning, demand generation, go-to-market strategy, and team performance to measurable business outcomes.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a former Fortune 1000 marketing executive and/or PE-backed company officer who has led marketing inside operating companies with accountability for brand strategy, demand generation, customer insight, team leadership, and commercial impact. This should be a builder and operator, not simply an advisor.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead brand strategy, market positioning, and go-to-market planning for client organizations.

• Align marketing strategy to business objectives, revenue priorities, and sales effectiveness.

• Guide demand generation, customer insight, KPI ownership, channel priorities, and marketing team performance.

• Improve marketing operating rhythm, decision-making, and accountability across internal teams and external partners.

• Translate customer and market intelligence into differentiated messaging and growth-oriented marketing strategy.

What Success Looks Like

Success looks like clearer market positioning, stronger demand quality, tighter sales and marketing alignment, more effective KPI visibility, and a marketing function that contributes meaningfully to growth rather than operating as a disconnected service layer.

Preferred Experience

Preferred backgrounds include former CMOs, SVP/VP Marketing leaders, business unit marketing heads, or commercial marketing executives from healthcare, medtech, B2B technology, professional services, manufacturing, or PE-backed organizations.

Leadership Traits

  • Strategic range, executive presence, storytelling strength, customer empathy, KPI discipline, leadership credibility, and the ability to connect high-level strategy with execution realities.
