We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Real Estate Investment Intern to support our investment team in sourcing, analyzing, and executing real estate opportunities across various asset classes. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals interested in real estate private equity, acquisitions, asset management, or financial analysis. Interns will gain hands-on exposure to underwriting, market research, investment memo preparation, and portfolio monitoring within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Modeling & Underwriting
- Assist in creating and updating discounted cash flow (DCF) models, pro formas, and return analyses.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions using metrics such as IRR, cash-on-cash, equity multiples, and sensitivity analyses.
- Market Research & Due Diligence
- Conduct market-level research on supply/demand fundamentals, rental trends, demographic data, and comparable transactions.
- Participate in property tours, site analyses, and third-party report reviews as needed.
- Investment Analysis
- Support the team in reviewing offering memorandums, leases, rent rolls, financial statements, and operating histories.
- Assist in preparing investment summaries, pitch decks, and internal approval materials.
- Asset Management Support
- Help monitor ongoing property performance, KPIs, and variance reports.
- Assist in reviewing budgets, capex plans, and operational updates from property managers.
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with acquisitions, asset management, research, and finance teams.
- Participate in team meetings, investment committee discussions, and cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfort with Excel and financial modeling.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with real estate terminology, valuation concepts, and investment principles preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with CoStar, Yardi, ARGUS, or other real estate analytics platforms.
- Prior internship or coursework in commercial real estate, private equity, or investment banking.
- Strong presentation and data visualization skills (PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.).
