About the Opportunity:

This role supports Patient Financial Services by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and issues related to patient accounts. It requires advanced knowledge of revenue cycle functions and the ability to work independently to ensure payment and resolution. The specialist will engage with patients, deescalate issues, analyze and prioritize tasks, and interpret payor contracts and billing policies. Cross-training in other revenue cycle functions and providing backup coverage may be required.


Responsibilities:

• Follow hospital and department policies and procedures, including PHI and employee guidelines.

• Use core patient accounting and department-specific systems efficiently.

• Monitor assigned work queues and workloads to resolve accounts accurately and promptly.

• Adhere to documentation standards, accurately use activity codes, and maintain speed and accuracy.

• Conduct research and follow-up to resolve inquiries and customer complaints to meet patient needs.

• Respond to patient, insurance, and authorized third-party inquiries, including returning calls and conducting research.

• Negotiate and document payment plans within established guidelines.

• Initiate collection calls to patients and insurance companies for unresolved accounts.

• Maintain accounts receivable per protocol; review and refer uncollectible accounts timely to collection agencies or attorneys.

• Route accounts to appropriate work queues for approval.

• Respond timely and appropriately to deliverables.

• Share knowledge and assist team members.

• Ensure inclusive practices respecting interpersonal and cultural diversity.

• Identify and respond appropriately to internal and external customer needs using available resources.


Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Associate degree in business administration or related field or college courses in finance, business, or health insurance preferred.

• Minimum of 1 year hospital or professional billing and/or collection experience with customer service and call center experience required.

Compensation:

• Minimum salary: 25.06 per hour

• Maximum salary: 38.84 per hour
