EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Job Description


We are looking for a Part time to Full time (depending on performance) Executive Director, to support the Founder & CEO as a key team member of a startup workforce development nonprofit organization with a growing brand and presence in the market. The Executive Director will be expected to contribute to strategic thought leadership, and will be directly responsible for overseeing the execution of the organization’s day to day operations, programs, and revenue production that drive its mission. Key duties include fundraising and business development (50%), management of program execution and program evaluation (40%), and special projects (10%). 


We are a small and entrepreneurial organization so it is important that the selected candidate is able to work and thrive in an unstructured work environment and brings a commercial, and data driven mindset to the job. The successful candidate will be a leader who loves problem solving, is solutions oriented, hyper focused on both processes and results, and is hands-on, with no job beneath them. Only candidates with corporate leadership experience will be considered and those with financial services backgrounds are highly preferred. The selected candidate will possess a demonstrable record of growing the revenues of a previous nonprofit employer from sub $1m to $3m+. The position reports directly to the CEO and only candidates in the NYC Tri-State area will be considered.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership

  • Executive level thought leadership that balances sustainability with mission impact and organizational growth
  • Work closely with the CEO to develop org strategic vision, and manage execution against the business plan
  • Work closely with the CEO to set annual org-wide and department specific KPIs 
  • Coordinate and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reviews


Revenue & Business Development

  • Fundraising and corporate sales responsibility with annual revenue targets and outreach KPIs
  • Use prospect research tools and your donor network to identify major gifts, foundation, and government prospects, while developing strategies to cultivate those relationships
  • Maintenance of consistent communication with donors and corporate partners, ensuring the fulfillment of contractual deliverables, overall satisfaction, and timely reporting


Operations

  • Manage day to day operations
  • Responsible for execution of WSB’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission
  • Work closely with the CEO to ensure that org-wide KPIs for recruitment, program enrollment, program delivery, program completion, student certification, and internship placement are tracked and met, with team successes recognized and celebrated 
  • Uncover actionable insights through the collection and analysis of Salesforce data


Marketing

  • Help deepen and refine all aspects of communications, from web presence and social media, to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
  • Responsible for helping to increase the overall visibility of the organization


Special Projects

  • Growing Wall Street Bound Academy, our online learning portal
  • Development and re-launch of the WSB Talent Exchange, our online jobs portal
  • Other special projects as they may arise. Ex Annual Gala planning assistance


Qualifications & Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three or more years of senior leadership experience leading small teams in a small org or early-stage / start-up environment
  • Five or more years experience as the primary development officer at a nonprofit organization or with P&L responsibility at a for profit enterprise
  • A demonstrable track record of leading and scaling a performance based organization, growing the organization’s revenues from >$1m to $3m+
  • Solid organizational abilities including planning, project management, budget preparation, analysis, and reporting
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator
  • Exceptional people leadership, and team building skills
  • Ability to work both independently without close oversight, and also as a team player who will take initiative, and can manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently

  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy and integrity
