Job Description: Executive Director, Operations
Position Overview
The Executive Director, Operations is responsible for formulating and executing the company's operational management strategy, providing comprehensive leadership over daily operations, business processes, project execution, resource management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role entails establishing efficient, standardized, and sustainable operational systems; driving cross-departmental collaboration; and enhancing operational efficiency, delivery capabilities, cost control, and customer satisfaction to ensure the operational foundation necessary for achieving business growth and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy and Execution
Formulate and implement corporate operational strategies and annual operational plans, ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategy.
Establish operational management policies, standardized processes, and operational governance frameworks.
Drive the breakdown and execution of operational goals, as well as performance tracking.
Continuously optimize operational models to enhance organizational execution efficiency.
Daily Operations Management
Assume full responsibility for daily business operations and operational management.
Oversee the operational performance of business units to ensure the achievement of operational targets.
Optimize resource allocation to boost productivity and operational efficiency.
Establish mechanisms for regular operational meetings, operational analysis, and continuous improvement.
Project Management and Delivery
Oversee the execution of key projects and the project portfolio.
Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
Coordinate cross-departmental resources to facilitate the successful implementation of major projects.
Establish management systems for project operations and delivery.
Process Optimization and Operational Excellence
Drive process optimization, Lean Management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational analysis systems.
Advance the development of automated, digital, and intelligent operations.
Continuously enhance organizational operational capabilities and business efficiency.
Resource and Budget Management
Develop operational budgets and resource allocation plans.
Manage human, equipment, financial, and technological resources.
Improve resource utilization rates and the return on investment (ROI) for operations.
Control operational costs to achieve objectives regarding cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Risk, Quality, and Compliance Management
Establish mechanisms for identifying, assessing, and controlling operational risks.
Ensure operations comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and legal/regulatory requirements.
Drive the development of quality management systems and continuously improve delivery quality.
Establish business continuity and emergency response mechanisms.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR teams.
Facilitate cross-departmental communication and resource integration.
Support major corporate business decisions and the implementation of strategic projects. Enhance organizational collaboration efficiency and execution capabilities.
Team Building and Leadership
Build and lead the operations management team.
Develop operations management talent and middle-level managers.
Establish systems for performance assessment, training, and succession planning.
Foster a corporate culture characterized by high performance, continuous improvement, and customer orientation.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Majors in Business Management, Operations Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related fields preferred.
MBA or relevant Master’s degree preferred.
Work Experience
10+ years of experience in operations management, project management, or business management.
5+ years of experience in senior management roles.
Experience in operations management within large enterprises, multinational corporations, or high-growth companies.
Familiarity with corporate operational systems, process optimization, and performance management.
Experience in international business operations is a plus.
