Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Research Technician to join our Battery Materials – Energy Storage team in Ghislenghien. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to product innovation, focusing on conductive additives and active materials used in lithium-ion batteries. You will work in a dynamic innovation centre alongside an experienced team, supporting the development of next-generation energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Battery Fabrication & Testing: Perform in-house lithium-ion battery fabrication and conduct electrochemical performance testing.
  • Data Generation & Analysis: Collect, document, and analyze performance data to guide product innovation and R&D decision-making.
  • Formulation & Chemistry Support: Assist in developing and optimizing battery formulations and chemistries.
  • Laboratory Operations: Manage laboratory equipment, ensuring functionality and compliance with quality standards.
  • Inventory & Consumables: Organize, track, and replenish laboratory consumables and chemicals.
  • Capability Development: Support installation and commissioning of new laboratory equipment and testing methods.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow SOPs and maintain a safe, well-documented, and organized lab environment.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science.
  • 1–3 years of research or R&D laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with controlled atmosphere equipment (e.g., glovebox).
  • Knowledge of handling hazardous chemicals (powders, nanomaterials, organics, acids/bases).
  • Experience with material characterization techniques (e.g., conductivity, BET surface area, TGA, OAN, pycnometer, particle size analyzer, electrochemical testing).
  • Prior experience in the EV battery or energy storage industry.
