The opportunity
Across Europe, a new generation of energy infrastructure projects is emerging — including advanced nuclear reactors, SMRs and other large-scale engineering programmes supporting the energy transition.
These projects require experienced Electrical and I&C engineers who are comfortable working in complex, safety-critical environments. Importantly, previous nuclear experience is not required.
Many engineers who successfully move into nuclear come from oil & gas, aerospace, rail signalling, defence systems, power generation or industrial automation. What matters most is strong engineering fundamentals and experience working within disciplined engineering processes.
We are actively looking to speak with engineers from these backgrounds who are curious about applying their skills in a new sector.
What the work involves
You would typically be embedded within international engineering teams developing new energy infrastructure and advanced reactor technologies. Responsibilities vary by programme but commonly include:
∙ Design and specification of electrical or I&C systems for complex engineering facilities
∙ Development of control architectures and system integration strategies
∙ Preparation and review of engineering documentation and technical specifications
∙ Interface with multidisciplinary design teams
∙ Support to verification, validation and commissioning activities
∙ Engagement with safety and regulatory processes
What we are looking for
∙ Background in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or a closely related discipline
∙ Experience in complex engineered environments or safety-critical industries
∙ Familiarity with structured engineering processes and documentation
∙ Comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Experience in oil & gas, aerospace, rail, defence, power or industrial automation is highly relevant.
We are open to a range of experience levels. Principal and Lead profiles are the primary focus, but we are also interested in speaking with strong mid-level engineers who are ready for a more complex environment.
Salary
Principal and Lead roles are expected to be in the £90,000–£110,000 range. Packages for mid-level profiles will reflect experience. Full details at conversation stage.
