Company Description

The Editor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of QuickSeries' operational and instructional guides, outreach materials (trifolds, posters, wallet cards, etc.), app content, eGuides, and sales and marketing collateral. A core strength of this role is the ability to distill detailed operational subject matter into clear, accessible, and actionable content that end users can quickly absorb and apply in the field. This role demands a meticulous, detail-driven professional who can uphold rigorous editorial standards across content developed for government agencies and military branches. The Editor works closely with graphic designers and sales account managers to deliver polished, mission-ready products on deadline.


Duties and responsibilities

• Edit, proofread, and fact-check operational guides, instructional references, and outreach materials for grammar, accuracy, clarity, tone, and adherence to QuickSeries style standards 

• Transform detailed procedures, regulations, and operational source material into concise, plain-language content that is easy to navigate and immediately useful to the reader 

• Manage the full editorial life cycle—from manuscript intake through design review, client revisions, final approval, and preflight—ensuring projects are delivered on schedule 

• Meticulously verify that all reprints and updated editions reflect current regulations, procedures, and terminology relevant to government and military audiences 

• Research and draft content for custom and generic QuickSeries guides and outreach materials, including taking the lead on writing new guides from the ground up when assigned; primary focus remains on editing and refining existing content

• Serve as a key editorial point of contact for sales account managers, ensuring client feedback and content requirements are clearly understood and accurately executed

• Collaborate with graphic designers on layout, photo selection, and mockups; communicate design direction and client specifications with precision

• Use content management systems, project management tools, and digital proofing platforms to track project status and manage editorial workflows


Qualifications


Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Technical Writing, or a related field


Experience

• Minimum 3 years of professional editing experience, preferably in a publishing, production, or content development environment

• Experience editing operational, instructional, or procedural content for government, military, healthcare, or public safety audiences strongly preferred

• Familiarity with government/military style conventions (e.g., GPO Style Manual, DoD writing standards) is an asset


Skills

• Exceptional editing and proofreading skills with an eagle eye for detail—grammar, punctuation, consistency, and factual accuracy 

• Proven ability to break down detailed, specialized information and reshape it into reader-friendly formats without sacrificing accuracy or completeness 

• Comfortable juggling multiple simultaneous projects across different subject areas and shifting priorities with ease 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to give and receive constructive feedback and work effectively with account managers, designers, and clients 

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a methodical approach to fact-checking and content verification 

• Self-motivated, organized, and reliable in a deadline-driven, remote work environment while maintaining open, consistent communication with team members


Technical knowledge

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new software tools quickly 

• Experience with content management systems (CMS), digital proofing tools, and project management platforms
