Position: Document Sourcing Specialist
Type: Hourly contract
Compensation: $20 - $66/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10 40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
- Source publicly available documents from government archives, academic repositories, and open datasets.
- Verify and document license types to ensure compliance with open-source and usage requirements.
- Log and maintain accurate metadata, including source links and licensing details.
- Identify and flag issues related to ownership, unclear licensing, or restricted content.
- Collaborate with data engineering and compliance teams to resolve sourcing challenges.
- Stay updated on open data practices, licensing standards, and repository navigation.
- Communicate findings clearly to support documentation quality and compliance audits.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review licensing and compliance information accurately.
- Strong experience in document sourcing, academic research, and public records search.
- Familiarity with platforms such as academic repositories and open-source databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to distinguish between open-access and restricted content.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large volumes of data.
