OVERVIEW
AtkinsClarke are exclusively supporting a large, nationally operating charity with the appointment of an Operations Director at a pivotal point for the organisation and the wider sector.
This is a senior leadership role, operating at Executive level, with responsibility for the performance, consistency and effectiveness of service delivery across a complex, multi-site operation. The organisation continues to deliver critical services to thousands of vulnerable people each year, while navigating a more demanding and constrained external environment.
The successful individual will bring calm authority, resilience and sound operational judgement - helping the organisation maintain high standards, support its leadership teams and continue to evolve its operating model in a measured, sustainable way.
ROLE
Reporting into the Executive Team, the Operations Director will hold accountability for national service delivery and operational performance. The remit is broad and influential, combining strategic oversight with hands-on leadership of senior operational teams.
Key aspects of the mandate include:
- Providing clear, consistent leadership across geographically dispersed services
- Supporting senior managers through a period of operational pressure and change
- Strengthening performance management, assurance and governance frameworks
- Ensuring services continue to meet regulatory, contractual and quality expectations
- Driving consistency, best practice and continuous improvement across the organisation
- Acting as a key voice at Executive level on operational risk, capacity and delivery
This role requires strong judgement, emotional intelligence and the ability to lead confidently through complexity without defaulting to disruption for its own sake.
PERSON
This opportunity will appeal to an experienced operational leader with a background in charity, social care, health, housing or other regulated, mission-led environments.
You are likely to bring:
- Senior leadership experience within large, multi-site service organisations
- A track record of leading operations during periods of sector pressure or change
- Strong people leadership and the ability to support and challenge at senior level
- Confidence operating as part of an Executive team
- A values-led, measured leadership style with high personal resilience
Whilst this is not a turnaround appointment, but it does require someone comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping organisations remain steady and effective through challenging conditions.
THE OFFER
- Executive-level appointment within a nationally recognised charity
- Salary up to £80,000 per annum, plus benefits
- Fully remote with national remit
- Opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale
- High trust, high visibility role with long-term organisational influence
