Overview

Our client is seeking a strategic and operationally rigorous Logistics Director to lead and optimize the organization’s end-to-end logistics, distribution, and supply chain execution functions. This leader will be responsible for ensuring efficient movement of goods, inventory accuracy, cost control, and service-level excellence across domestic and international operations.

The Logistics Director will partner closely with Operations, Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, and Customer Service to align logistics strategy with broader business objectives. The ideal candidate is a data-driven supply chain leader with deep experience managing complex distribution networks, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and continuous improvement initiatives in high-growth or operationally intensive environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s logistics and distribution strategy to support service, cost, and scalability objectives.

• Oversee transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and order fulfillment operations across multiple regions.

• Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure performance and cost optimization.

• Establish KPIs and service-level agreements (SLAs) to monitor on-time delivery, freight spend, inventory accuracy, and fulfillment efficiency.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce transportation costs, optimize routing, and improve warehouse productivity.

• Lead demand planning alignment with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure inventory availability and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.

• Implement and optimize logistics systems, including TMS, WMS, and ERP integrations.

• Ensure compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations, trade laws, and safety standards.

• Develop contingency planning frameworks to mitigate supply chain disruptions and risk exposure.

• Prepare and manage the logistics budget, including freight spend forecasting and cost controls.

• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing logistics and distribution team.

• Provide executive-level reporting on logistics performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.

Operating Context

• Reports to the COO, VP of Operations, or Chief Supply Chain Officer.

• Leads a multi-site logistics and distribution network, potentially including global operations.

• Operates in a fast-paced environment with complex supply chain requirements.

• Collaborates cross-functionally with Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, IT, and Customer Service teams.

• Manages both internal logistics teams and external logistics partners.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in logistics management, transportation planning, and distribution operations.

• Strong understanding of supply chain optimization, inventory management, and cost control methodologies.

• Experience negotiating carrier contracts and managing freight procurement strategies.

• Advanced knowledge of TMS, WMS, ERP systems, and logistics analytics tools.

• Proven leadership experience managing large, distributed teams and third-party providers.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making and performance optimization.

• Knowledge of international shipping, customs compliance, and trade regulations.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations leadership roles.

• Experience in manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, consumer goods, or industrial distribution environments.

• Demonstrated success scaling logistics infrastructure during periods of rapid growth.

• Certification such as CSCP, CLTD, Six Sigma, or PMP preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).

• Experience leading digital transformation initiatives within logistics operations.
