Title: Communications Lead/Director Level - Internal Communications
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: $65/hr on W2
Experience & Expertise
- 10+ years in internal communications, preferably within technology, digital, or transformation environments.
- Strong background in change communications, executive communications, and strategic planning.
- People leadership experience — managing, mentoring, and/or building communications teams.
- Ability to operate as a strategic advisor to senior executives (CIO/CTO/Tech leadership).
Core Skills Needed
- Exceptional writing skills — crafting memos, FAQs, scripts, intranet content, updates, and leader communications.
- Executive-level storytelling — simplifying complex technical messages for diverse internal audiences.
- Project & program management — leading end-to-end comms campaigns, managing dependencies, timelines, approvals.
- Ability to build communications frameworks, governance models, playbooks, and operating processes.
- Comfortable working in global, matrixed environments with multiple stakeholders.
Functional Responsibilities
- Lead and manage internal campaigns for technology and transformation initiatives.
- Build executive-ready materials (town halls, memos, scripts, announcements).
- Design and manage a transformation communications plan and editorial calendar.
- Support events, AMAs, roadshows, sessions, run-of-show, and logistics.
- Manage and improve intranet content, newsletters, and collaboration channels (Teams/Slack).
- Own KPIs, engagement metrics, reporting, and performance insights.
- Support incident / release communications for tech updates.
- Define the future state operating model, staffing, and budget for a long-term tech communications function.
Tools & Technical Requirements
- Proficiency with SharePoint / CMS, Microsoft 365, Teams, Viva Engage/Yammer.
- Familiarity with project tools like Smartsheet, Jira, Asana (nice-to-have).
- Data-driven approach to measuring outcomes and communication impact.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience supporting CIO/CTO organizations.
- Experience with enterprise platform migrations.
- Change management certification (Prosci preferred).
- Experience building playbooks, service catalogs, operating models.
