We are seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Business Development to drive growth for our Laboratory Testing Division in the German-speaking region of Europe. This role is pivotal in developing and executing sales strategies to expand our customer base, strengthen client relationships, and ensure revenue targets are met. The Director will manage a high-performing team and directly oversee several key accounts, leveraging a deep understanding of the CRO, pharma, and biotech landscape to position our solutions effectively. Regular travel within the region (25-50%) is required.
Location: Remote in Germany, with options for Switzerland or Austria
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a motivated and results-driven business development team, implementing best practices and processes for repeatable success.
- Business Planning: Develop and execute an annual business plan to meet or exceed targeted revenue goals.
- Relationship Management: Establish strong, strategic relationships with internal teams and key clients to stay attuned to market needs, provide feedback on innovative processes, and drive business growth.
- New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, creating lasting relationships and expanding the customer base in the assigned region.
- Sales Process Management: Qualify leads, facilitate meetings, and manage the sales process through contract negotiation and close.
- Account Management: Act as the main point of contact for client accounts, nurturing relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align solutions with client needs and refine messaging for maximum market impact.
- Travel: This role requires overnight travel approximately 25-50% of the time.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, M.S., or PhD) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in business development within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry, with a record of achieving sales quotas and developing key accounts.
- Team Management: Proven experience leading remote teams and achieving business objectives.
- International and Cross-Cultural Experience: Ability to work with international teams and manage cross-cultural client relationships.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and communication tools. A valid driver’s license and passport are required.
