We are seeking a results-driven Director of Business Development to lead and expand preclinical CRO services across Europe. This role focuses on cultivating strategic client relationships, driving revenue growth, and positioning the organization as a trusted partner in the life sciences sector. The successful candidate will work remotely from Switzerland or Germany, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customized solutions and identify emerging market opportunities. This position offers the chance to influence European business strategy, engage with leading pharmaceutical and biotech clients, and contribute directly to the company’s growth trajectory. Ideal candidates are proactive, data-driven, and have a strong track record in business development within the CRO or broader life sciences industry. The role provides autonomy, visibility, and impact in a dynamic, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives to expand the company’s European presence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure long-term partnerships and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the sales pipeline proactively to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Collaborate with technical experts, senior leadership, and global business development teams to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Represent the organization at key conferences, networking events, and industry meetings to enhance visibility and foster relationships.
  • Utilize CRM and analytics tools to track progress, generate insights, and optimize business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline; PhD preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the life sciences industry, with CRO experience highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of securing new business and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on identifying growth opportunities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
