About us:
Photys is an early-stage biotechnology company developing novel bifunctional small molecules for fine-tuned control of post-translational modifications beyond ubiquitination. Building off the same principles that underpin PROTACs, we will unlock directed protein post-translational modifications as a disease-agnostic therapeutic strategy to treat oncology, immunological diseases, metabolic diseases as well as genetic disorders.
What you will do:
- Oversee design and drive execution of pipeline activities leading to development candidate from target selection through impactful studies that validate assays required for lead optimization.
- Work closely with executive leadership to create and execute research strategies for multiple programs with clear go-no/go decisions, helping assess and develop Target Product Profiles for programs under consideration
- Exhibit deep scientific knowledge, including current and emerging standards of care to inform target selection, drug discovery approaches, and forward translation.
- Deepen our knowledge of science of current and future assays and conduct diligence to understand the evolving landscape of diagnostics and biomarkers.
- Establish strong cross-functional relationships to enable superior performance against scientific and company objectives, including team members across Photys.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in development and management of budgets to ensure prioritization of critical scientific progress.
- Support the executive leadership in strategic planning process by being an active member of the senior leadership team.
- Empower, manage, and develop a matrixed team of internal and external scientists providing clear communication on company goals, being a creative problem-solver, and a role model across the organization.
- Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership and to the scientific advisory board on activities.
About you:
- PhD in Metabolism, Cell or Molecular biology or related field with 12+ years post-degree industry experience with a minimum of 8+ years of program leadership and people management experience.
- Demonstrated success in leading drug development programs from inception through IND, and driving multiple, parallel deliverables while executing on biology and pharmacology milestones.
- Able to work on-site and attend in-person meetings.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, interpersonal, scientific thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
- Experience leading project planning and operational functions with CROs
- Experience in a small company environment is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work in cross-functional teams with an emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and communication within team and across the department.
- Forward thinking mindset with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and focus on problem solving.
