Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid – Onsite Required)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $160,000 – $200,000 + 20–30% Bonus


About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Director, Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and execution of comprehensive employee benefits programs within a large, complex healthcare environment.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping benefits strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering competitive programs that attract and retain top talent.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and related regulations
  • Partner with HR leadership to align Total Rewards strategy with business objectives
  • Manage relationships with consultants, brokers, actuaries, and vendors
  • Oversee benefits operations, team leadership, and performance outcomes
  • Drive initiatives in wellness programs and employee engagement
  • Develop metrics to measure ROI and program effectiveness
  • Collaborate with HRIS teams to enhance systems and automation


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in benefits leadership and operations
  • Strong background in the healthcare industry (required)
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and consulting partners
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefits technology


Proven expertise in:

  • Health and Welfare Plans
  • Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, Pension)
  • Plan Design, Compliance, and Implementation


Education: Bachelor’s degree required (HR, Business, or related field)

Preferred Certifications: CEBS, CBP or equivalent
