Director, Benefits (Healthcare) | Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $160,000 – $200,000 + 20–30% Bonus
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director, Benefits to lead the strategy, design, and execution of comprehensive employee benefits programs within a large, complex healthcare environment.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping benefits strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering competitive programs that attract and retain top talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and administration of health, welfare, and retirement benefit programs
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and related regulations
- Partner with HR leadership to align Total Rewards strategy with business objectives
- Manage relationships with consultants, brokers, actuaries, and vendors
- Oversee benefits operations, team leadership, and performance outcomes
- Drive initiatives in wellness programs and employee engagement
- Develop metrics to measure ROI and program effectiveness
- Collaborate with HRIS teams to enhance systems and automation
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in benefits leadership and operations
- Strong background in the healthcare industry (required)
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and consulting partners
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience with HRIS systems and benefits technology
Proven expertise in:
- Health and Welfare Plans
- Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, Pension)
- Plan Design, Compliance, and Implementation
Education: Bachelor’s degree required (HR, Business, or related field)
Preferred Certifications: CEBS, CBP or equivalent
