Build something people love

Wealthsimple's mission is to help everyone achieve financial freedom – by making financial services simple, transparent, and low-cost. We're Canada's largest fintech, trusted by over 3 million clients with more than $100 billion in assets. We move fast, we own our work, and we care deeply about the people using our products. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

We're proud of what we've built — and we're just getting started. Read our Culture Manual and learn more about how we work.

About The Role

Wealthsimple is building the most sophisticated wealth platform in Canada — and we're just getting started. As Director of Advice Innovation & Experience, you will be the person who figures out what "premium" actually means for our clients and then goes and builds it.

Reporting to the VP of Wealth Management, this is a rare 0-to-1 role: part strategist, part builder, part entrepreneur. You won't be managing existing operations or defining core product features — you'll be designing and manually launching the next generation of high-touch advice experiences, proving they work, and handing off proven playbooks for our Service team to own and scale. You'll also be identifying and structuring the external partnerships that extend what Wealthsimple can offer to its most complex, high-net-worth clients.

This role lives at the intersection of service design, fintech innovation, and commercial execution — and it exists to answer one question: what does a truly differentiated, human-centred advice experience look like at Wealthsimple, and how do we prove it works before we scale it?

Your impact

  • Define what "5-star" looks like in wealth management. Draw on deep knowledge of premium service — whether from luxury hospitality, high-end retail, or elite financial services — to design client experiences that are genuinely differentiated. You'll set the bar for what HNW and complex clients can expect from Wealthsimple, and you'll do it by building real things with real clients — not decks.
  • Incubate and personally run new advice services. Take a concept — an Estate Concierge, a high-touch onboarding experience, a specialized tax review — and figure out how to deliver it manually, at a small scale, before it's ready to be operationalized. You'll build the V1 process, create the collateral, and personally oversee the first cohort of clients. When it works, you'll package it into a clean, documented playbook and hand it to our Service Operations team to run at scale. The messy incubation work is yours; the scaled delivery belongs to them.
  • Stay ahead of where the industry is going. You are genuinely plugged into the evolving advice and wealth management landscape — the startups, the disruptors, and the best incumbents globally. You bring that intelligence back to Wealthsimple and help leadership sharpen hypotheses about what to build next. You complement that external lens with a close understanding of what our existing clients actually value and where they feel underserved.
  • Build the partnerships that expand our offering. As Wealthsimple moves toward a more holistic wealth proposition, you will identify and cultivate relationships with other providers whose expertise complements ours. You'll design the integrated client experience, pilot the model, and hand a proven partnership framework to the broader team to operationalize.
  • Arm our advisors and sales team with the tools to win. Partner with our Head of Sales to rapidly prototype the tools advisors need to win and retain high-value clients — customized proposals, financial modeling widgets, interactive planning materials. You build what's needed to get the deal done; you don't wait for engineering.
  • Prove commercial impact. Every pilot you run is measured against clear metrics — AUM growth, conversion rates, client satisfaction. You design experiments that prove value before we commit to scaling, and you make backed recommendations on what to accelerate, refine, or kill.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with the VP of Wealth Management and senior leadership to shape the future of Wealthsimple's premium advice offering
  • Launch and personally run the first iterations of services that will eventually reach hundreds of thousands of clients
  • Build external partnerships that expand what Wealthsimple can offer to its most complex clients — a genuinely new frontier for the company
  • Inform Wealthsimple's long-term product roadmap by surfacing validated client demand from real pilots — without owning product development yourself
  • Operate across all three of Wealthsimple's advice models — Scaled, Dedicated, and On-Demand — with a mandate that spans the full advice business

Skills You Bring

  • Is energized by the messy, creative, manual work of building something from nothing — and doesn't need a large team or perfect infrastructure to get a pilot off the ground.
  • Has a genuine obsession with how the wealth management and fintech landscape is evolving globally, with sharp instincts for what's a real shift versus noise.
  • Brings deep knowledge of what premium service actually feels like — from the client's perspective — and can translate that into a wealth management context.
  • Understands the difference between incubating a service and building a product — and is energized by the former.
  • Thinks commercially — you build beautiful experiences, but you always know what the business case is and how you'll prove it.
  • Is a natural lateral leader who can bring Sales, Service, Product, and Compliance together around a shared vision without direct authority over any of them.
  • Is tech-forward — comfortable using AI tools, low-code platforms, and lightweight scripting to build functional prototypes that test real concepts in market.
  • 7+ years of experience in service design, strategy, innovation, or premium client experience — ideally with exposure to HNW or complex client segments.
  • A proven track record of taking a service concept from idea to live pilot (true 0-to-1 experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to use modern technology — AI tools, low-code/no-code platforms, or lightweight scripting — to rapidly prototype and test solutions.
  • Experience developing or managing strategic partnerships with external service providers.
  • Strong commercial instincts and the ability to design pilots that prove measurable ROI.
  • Experience working alongside scaled operational teams and transitioning V1 pilots into standardized, scalable processes — with a clear ability to hand off and let go.
  • Familiarity with the wealth management landscape — how different advice models work, what HNW clients value, and how financial services firms grow AUM.
  • Comfort working in regulated environments and partnering with compliance teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills — you can influence executives, inspire advisors, and earn the trust of external partners.
