As we grow, we are looking to expand our team. We’re looking for an experienced digital editor who is highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks. While business and finance writing experience would be beneficial, a passion for taking complex topics and making them accessible and engaging is the priority.


We’re committed to flexible working, and will tailor this role to the right person. We’re open to discussing working hours that fit around other commitments, for example, a 9:00-3:00 working day or a 3-4 day working week. The salary will be pro-rated accordingly. 


Role Description


The job would suit a journalist with digital editor, editor or deputy editor experience. Ideally you’ll have experience writing financial, political and breaking news for a primarily business audience. The topic base is broad, but includes; business, politics, finance, AI, tech, politics, accountancy, tax and fraud. We also create content for charities, which may include writing for a young audience or interviewing medical professionals.


This is a pivotal role working with the creative director across all of our main clients. This means you must be highly organised and able to juggle multiple tasks, organising workflow across several different clients and projects while also writing some content yourself.


Duties will include:


  • Writing articles to client briefs
  • Briefing and commissioning writers to a set budget
  • Editing articles
  • Managing the editorial calendar and schedule
  • Progress reports on status of incoming commissions 
  • Ideas for features and content series
  • Attending editorial and client meetings


There is scope to grow the role and gain new skills, these could include:


  • Scripting podcasts
  • Project managing content series and campaigns
  • Pitching new content ideas and topics
  • Helping to develop the editorial team and our in-house processes


Skills & qualifications:


  • Strong editing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A love of writing, this role will involve writing as well as a commissioning budget
  • Experience working as an editor or deputy editor in a busy editorial environment
  • Collaborative teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with writers, clients and the creative team
  • Proficiency in using digital platforms and tools for managing and editing content, for example: Trello, Slack, social media platforms etc
  • Deep understanding of storytelling and narrative, particularly for non-profits, charities, and professional organisations in the business sector
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field an advantage, but not essential
  • Experience in developing content for digital platforms, including video production and podcasts is a bonus
  • Experience managing budgets also a bonus
  • A love of content creation and a passion for finding intriguing stories and human angles in seemly dry topics essential

We are committed to working flexibly, but can offer a co-working space in central London if this is preferred. We don’t want to limit the search to the London area only,  so will consider applications from further afield. But where possible, there’ll be some in person meetings and occasional team co-working days in central London. There’s also the option to attend podcast recordings in London if this is an area you’d like more experience in.
