Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter patient orders, test results, and other medical data into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Review patient orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare protocols.
- Process and verify patient information, including demographic details, insurance, and medical histories, to ensure data accuracy.
- Assist physicians and healthcare providers by entering orders for medical tests, procedures, and prescriptions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate entry of information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and company privacy policies.
- Review and confirm that all required information is received and processed, following up with staff or patients as needed to resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist in managing and organizing medical orders, test results, and other clinical documents.
- Track and update the status of pending orders and follow up with necessary departments to ensure timely completion.
- Generate reports as required by management, ensuring that all data is accurate and current.
- Respond to internal inquiries regarding the status of orders or data entry issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform regular audits of data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in other administrative and office duties as needed, such as filing, scanning, and document management.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or certification in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Previous experience in data entry or order processing, particularly in a healthcare setting, is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to process information accurately and efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with EHR systems (e.g., [insert EHR system if applicable]).
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
