The Motley Fool is looking for a highly skilled Data Visualization Specialist with experience in ThoughtSpot to join our team on an independent contract basis, 30-40 hours per week for 6 months. This is a mid to senior level position and requires 4-5+ years of relevant experience.

While this role is flexible and 100% remote, candidates must be located in the United States for consideration.

What does this team do?

The Data Engineering team at The Motley Fool creates data pipelines to wrangle data from around the Fool. We collaborate with everyone - from third party vendors to stakeholders to build easily consumable data structures for reporting and business insights. While working closely with our business analysts and machine learning specialists, we serve the data needs of all The Motley Fool Teams! 

What would you do in this role?

As a Data Visualization Specialist, you will be pivotal in deploying innovative ThoughtSpot solutions and optimizing their effectiveness. Your role will involve creating new ThoughtSpot search-driven analytics, refining existing solutions, and collaborating closely with various teams to enhance the ThoughtSpot experience for users.

But What Would You Actually Do in this role? 

Search-Driven Analytics:

  • Create impactful and intuitive ThoughtSpot search-driven analytics that align with business needs.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and visualization goals.
  • Enhance and refine existing ThoughtSpot solutions based on feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and coherence of data in ThoughtSpot analytics.
  • Leverage ThoughtSpot's functionalities, such as pinboards and SpotIQ, to create dynamic and interactive data visualizations.

Business Logic Alignment:

  • Analyze SQL code to identify variations in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) calculations across data sources.
  • Determine discrepancies in KPI definitions and reconcile them for consistency.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure accurate and uniform KPI definitions.
  • Document and communicate changes to maintain a standardized approach.
  • Implement solutions to align calculations, ensuring data integrity and uniform reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Engage with key stakeholders to gather and refine requirements for ThoughtSpot analytics.
  • Provide ThoughtSpot expertise and support to ensure seamless user experience organization-wide.
  • Maintain data integrity and consistency within ThoughtSpot analytics and Snowflake.

Usability and Efficiency Enhancement:

  • Assess and optimize ThoughtSpot usage across departments for improved efficiency and accessibility.
  • Provide training and guidance to enhance ThoughtSpot adoption and efficiency for all users.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams on navigating ThoughtSpot analytics.
  • Develop documentation outlining best practices for ThoughtSpot dashboard development and maintenance.

Required Experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Thoughtspot Developer or similar role
  • Proficiency in ThoughtSpot, including design and administration.
  • Strong data visualization skills with knowledge of best practices.
  • Intermediate SQL skills for data manipulation.
  • Experience with Snowflake is required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with a track record of meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

 

Compensation: 

Below is our target compensation range. While we are budget conscious, we’re also eager to find the right person for this role, so if your target is outside of this range, please don’t hesitate to apply and we’d be happy to have a conversation. 

Hourly Pay Range
$75$90 USD
