About the Opportunity:


The organization provides services and software for standards-based health-information exchange, focusing on improving public health and quality of care. The role supports data-informed decision-making by designing and building AI-powered applications and tools using existing AI models and Cloud infrastructure to enhance public health and health data interoperability.


Responsibilities:


• Use analytic and visualization techniques to provide actionable insights

• Design, prototype, build, and maintain AI-powered tools using Python and existing models such as LLMs and embeddings

• Iterate on prompts and workflows based on testing and feedback; support deployment and operation

• Stay updated with emerging data-science and AI/machine learning tools and best practices

• Access, combine, and analyze large, complex datasets; clean and wrangle data with guidance

• Ensure quality, integrity, and security of data

• Create visualizations and perform analyses using statistical and machine learning techniques

• Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences with support as needed

• Work independently on most tasks; seek guidance for complex responsibilities

• Communicate results effectively to clients, management, and staff

• Translate client and business needs into formal requirements


Requirements:


• Associate''s degree and at least three years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience in data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or related field

• Proficiency in Python

• Familiarity with analytic software (e.g., R, Databricks), Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and big-data technologies (e.g., Spark)

• Basic Cloud literacy including understanding containers and serverless; proficiency with APIs and SDKs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure, AWS)

• Familiarity with AI concepts related to data applications (e.g., RAG, LangChain/LangGraph, Vector DBs)

• Ability to work independently on general tasks

• Competence in applying various data-analytics approaches

• Ability to complete a Level 5 Position of Public Trust background investigation if required


Preferred qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with three years of relevant experience

• Experience with large-dataset analysis for public health entities such as CDC or CMS
