Cardiology Associates of Altoona is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Data Processing Assistant (Claims) to join our dedicated Billing and Claims Department. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims and data entry related to patient services. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input and process medical claim data into internal systems and electronic health records (EHR)
- Review insurance claims for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company and industry standards
- Assist billing specialists in preparing and submitting claims to insurance companies and third-party payers
- Monitor claim status and support the follow-up process on pending or denied claims
- Maintain patient and insurance records with strict confidentiality and attention to detail
- Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies
- Support general administrative tasks related to claims processing as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework in healthcare administration or billing preferred
- Previous experience in medical billing, claims processing, or healthcare administration is a plus
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and healthcare billing software (e.g., EPIC, Medisoft, or similar systems)
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-volume environment
