The Role

We're hiring a Data & Business Operations Lead to own Incentiv's data engine end-to-end. You'll speed up data acquisition from portfolio companies, turn messy portco cap tables and comp files into our structured formats, partner with engineering to upgrade the systems that move that data, and lead the AI automation that lets us scale without sacrificing accuracy. PE clients demand zero defects — you'll hold that bar.

This is a high-agency role with a direct line to the Incentiv Founder. Career growth is real, with meaningful long-term incentive bonuses and a clear path to expand scope as the team scales.


What You'll Own

  • Data acquisition from portfolio companies: drive the end-to-end pipeline for collecting compensation, cap table, and equity plan data. Reduce cycle time, raise response rates, design intake processes that scale.
  • Cap table and comp file processing: turn spreadsheet cap tables, waterfalls, MIP schedules, and offer letters into Incentiv's structured formats with zero loss of fidelity. Build the validation logic that catches errors before they reach clients.
  • AI-driven automation and data health: use LLMs and code-gen to automate parsing, normalization, and QA. Build anomaly detection, exception logic, and reconciliations that keep the dataset clean as it grows.
  • Engineering partnership: identify where tooling is slow or manual, write the requirements, work directly with engineering in Linear, and hold the team accountable to delivery and quality.
  • Operational rigor: document every step of the data lifecycle, build dashboards to track quality and throughput, and create the playbook that lets us scale the team without scaling headcount.


You'll Be a Fit If You Have

5+ years of professional experience with a track record of high-agency ownership and analytical precision

2+ years in investment banking, MBB consulting, private equity, or strategic finance

Advanced Excel — you build complex models and validation frameworks from scratch

Working knowledge of cap tables, equity structures (C-corp, LLC), waterfalls, and management incentive plans

A zero-defect mindset paired with high processing speed

Strong written communication — you can write a spec an engineer can build from

Comfort in a high-growth startup within an organization with larger resources, where ambiguity is the norm and initiative is the expectation

Genuine excitement about using AI as a force multiplier


Bonus Points

SQL for direct database investigation

Python or scripting for data manipulation and automation

Experience prototyping with LLMs / code generation

Prior time at a fintech, financial data company, or PE-backed startup

MBA or CFA
