Credentialing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to support a growing healthcare organization as it transitions credentialing functions in-house following a recent merger. This is a fully remote opportunity with strong potential for long-term growth.


Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle credentialing and re-credentialing for healthcare providers
  • Track and monitor licenses, certifications, and expirables to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Perform primary source verifications (PSV) and maintain accurate, up-to-date records
  • Submit and track payer enrollments with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
  • Communicate with providers to request and collect required documentation and ensure timely completion
  • Review provider files for accuracy and prepare submissions for credentialing committee review
  • Ensure providers meet all regulatory and compliance requirements, including OIG exclusion checks
  • Maintain and update data within credentialing systems and internal platforms


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of credentialing experience
  • Working knowledge of insurance payers and enrollment processes
  • Experience in FQHC or similar healthcare environments preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Excel and/or Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with provider and payer enrollment (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans)
  • Familiarity with Athenahealth or NextGen EMR systems
  • Experience using Workday, Smartsheet, or credentialing software platforms
  • Prior remote/work-from-home experience


Schedule & Training

  • Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility (Central Time preferred)
  • Structured onboarding and dedicated virtual training provided
  • Ongoing support with increased autonomy following training period
