Creative & Design Lead (Part Time/Freelance)
We're modernising a craft trade that's barely changed in decades. Most painters sell paint and labour. We want to sell the solution — helping people make confident colour and design decisions for their home. This role is the design eye behind that.
You'll work closely with the founder to build our creative toolkit, shape how we advise customers, and help position us as a genuine voice on colour and interiors — not just another painting firm.
What you'll do
- Carry out in-home design consultations — sit with customers, understand their space, and offer warm, expert colour and design guidance (we handle the quoting; you create the confidence)
- Develop our creative toolkit with the founder — colour library, schemes, mood and trend content that helps customers decide
- Spot and interpret colour and interior trends — reproduce and reframe what the manufacturers do, but in our brand and voice
- Help build our thought-leadership presence — the ideas and substance that make us worth following, not just watching
Who you are
- A real design background and eye — interiors, colour, styling; this is your craft, not a side interest
- Confident and personable in someone's home — consultative, never pushy; people trust your taste
- East Midlands based with own transport, able to travel to sites (occasionally further afield if you're up for it)
- Commercially aware — you understand a great consultation can win the work and open the door to paid design services
- Excited to help shape something early, working directly with the founder
