About the Opportunity: The Controller is responsible for overseeing financial analysis and reporting to guide management decisions. This role involves managing the daily activities of the Finance department and ensuring accurate financial statements and operational insights. The Controller integrates AI into finance processes and supports improvements in other departments, working closely with senior management to align financial operations with business objectives. The position is critical for maintaining financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic analysis within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
- Produce accurate financial statements, dashboards, KPIs, and analyses
- Manage daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger, cash management, and revenue recognition
- Develop and maintain internal control systems and ensure GAAP compliance
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory bodies
- Analyze business operations, costs, and revenues to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Train and mentor accounting staff
- Enhance financial systems through automation and AI tools
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive financial operations management experience, including experience in a Big 4 or regional CPA firm preferred
- Strong knowledge of general ledger, ERP systems, billing, payroll, risk management, taxes, revenue recognition, and financial planning
- Experience collaborating with leadership across multiple departments to ensure financial accuracy and process alignment
- Leadership skills to support organizational growth
- Ability to support CFO with investor reporting, board materials, and strategic initiatives
- Hands-on approach with attention to detail and strategic perspective
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA designation required
- Recent experience as a Controller or CPA in a medium-sized business
- Experience implementing and utilizing AI within Finance
