Senior Trader – Food Commodities & Ingredients
A well-established international food commodities business is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Trader to join its growing trading team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in food ingredients, agricultural commodities, or related supply chains. The successful candidate will manage trading activities across international markets, developing supplier and customer relationships while driving profitable growth within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full trading cycle, including procurement, sales, contract negotiation, execution, and margin management.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers, customers, and strategic partners across international markets.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and product development initiatives.
- Monitor global market developments and provide commercial insights to support trading decisions.
- Ensure timely execution of contracts and coordinate closely with logistics, operations, and quality teams.
- Manage inventory positions and support supply chain optimization.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and commercial planning activities.
- Assess commercial risks and make informed trading decisions to maximize profitability.
- Represent the business at industry events, trade fairs, and customer meetings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within trading processes and systems.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in commodity trading, food ingredients, agricultural products, or related international trading environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in negotiation and relationship management.
- Solid understanding of international trade, import/export processes, and supply chain dynamics.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market opportunities and commercial risks.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English is essential; additional European languages are advantageous (Dutch or German).
Travel: International travel required (approximately 20%)
