Company Description
At CollegeConsulting.us, we have one single mission: To be the United States’ most
fun, motivating, effective, all-inclusive college planning resource for high school
students (and their parents). We’re not just helping students get into college; we’re
helping them discover who they are and what they’re capable of. The self-confidence
they gain through isn’t temporary, it’s something they’ll carry with them for life.
We combine a proven curriculum, personalized coaching, and a high-touch support model to help students reach their dream schools — while building confidence that lasts a lifetime.
Role Description
As a College Advisor, you'll guide students and families through every stage of the admissions journey: from self-discovery and school list strategy to essay feedback and application execution. You’ll work with a small, dedicated caseload, building meaningful relationships with families and helping students hit key academic and admissions milestones.
This is a fully remote contractor position with flexible hours and the potential to grow as our team expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach a caseload of 15–50 students (based on your availability and capacity, with the potential to expand to a full-time position)
- Provide high-touch, personalized 1:1 coaching via Zoom, guiding students through every stage of the admissions process
- Support essay strategy and review by delivering structured, video-based feedback that emphasizes authenticity and narrative strength (no in-line editing)
- Lead school list strategy and application planning, helping students build balanced college lists and align their applications to school-specific priorities
- Offer guidance on extracurricular and personal development, including how to frame experiences, strengthen resumes, and pursue passion-driven projects
- Communicate regularly with students and families, keeping both parties informed, engaged, and aligned — with a 24-hour response time during working periods (excluding time off)
- Utilize the CollegeConsulting.us curriculum and internal systems to track progress, ensure timely execution, and deliver on our admissions and scholarship guarantees
- Collaborate with the CC.us team, sharing insights and supporting ongoing refinement of our coaching framework and student experience
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; preference given to those with experience in college admissions or counseling, particularly with selective or Top 50 institutions
- Experience as a former admissions officer or successful college counselor with a strong track record of helping students gain admission to competitive schools
- Proven ability to guide students in application strategy, essay development, and admissions positioning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — especially in giving clear, constructive, and structured feedback
- Strong organization, time management, and follow-through, with the ability to manage a student caseload independently
- A passion for working with high-achieving, motivated students and families
- Comfortable navigating remote tools and digital platforms (Zoom, Google Workspace, Slack/Twist, etc.)
- Flexible, proactive, and adaptive — able to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
- Bonus: Experience in education, coaching, or mentorship outside of traditional admissions work
