College Admissions Advisor (Independent Contractor)

Method Learning is an education company that provides college-readiness platforms and college advising services to students worldwide. We are seeking an experienced, tech-savvy College Admissions Advisor to join our remote team.lol

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a professional who has "owned the process" for a caseload of students from initial discovery to final enrollment. You should be:

  • Experienced: 5+ years as a College Counselor or Admissions Officer.
  • Comprehensive: Able to use admissions data, historical outcomes, and student profile analysis to construct balanced college lists and clearly communicate risk, likelihood, and fit to families.
  • A Finisher: Experienced in navigating the entire college admissions cycle.
  • Essay Support Expert: Experienced in preparing students for developing the main personal statement and supplemental essays, with efficient editing skills.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using digital platforms to track student progress and refine strategies.
  • A Strong Communicator: You must excel at building trust and confidence through verbal and written communication. This includes conducting effective virtual meetings via video/phone and maintaining professional correspondence via email or chat.
What This Role IS

  • Full-Cycle Advising: Managing a caseload of students from college list building to final selection.
  • Strategic Support: Able to help students position themselves authentically within highly competitive applicant pools. Including, but not limited to, building high-impact resumes and compelling essays, advising students on developing independent activities, and providing strategic application advice.
  • Specialized Expertise: We are looking for candidates with a defined area of expertise (e.g., UC system admissions, athletic recruiting, STEM programs, performing and visual arts, international admissions, or neurodivergent student support).

What This Role IS NOT

  • An Entry-Level Position: This requires a wealth of knowledge and prior experience in the admissions landscape.
  • Administrative Only: This is not a data-entry role; you are expected to provide high-level, empathetic, and strategic guidance.
  • Essay Editing Only: While essay support is key, we need advisors who manage the entire strategy.
  • In-Office: This is a 100% virtual, remote contract position.

  1. Tailored Resumes: Resumes must be specific to this position. Generic resumes that are not attuned to this posting will not be considered.
  2. Evidence of Expertise: Your defined area of expertise must be clearly evident in either your resume or your cover letter.
  3. Communication: You must demonstrate the ability to convey complex information in an efficient, clear, and relatable manner.
