For our client, we are currently looking for a Chief Marketing Officer - Data/AI Products and Services



THE CLIENT

Our client is a tech-bio startup that develops cutting-edge AI methods in genome, protein and large language models to accelerate drug discovery and translational medicine. Due to their rapid growth they are looking to expand their Data/AI Engineering team Basel, Zurich and Lausanne.



YOUR ROLE:

Our client is seeking a CMO to lead the development and adoption of their cutting-edge Data/AI products and services. The mission is to build AI methods with deep domain expertise in immunology, biotechnology, and drug discovery, capable of reasoning, adapting, and accelerating breakthroughs in scientific R&D.


The CMO will be responsible for the strategic marketing and product management of Data/AI-driven solutions, driving their adoption and growth in the market. The ideal candidate is a visionary marketing leader with a history of significant achievement in driving digital transformation, ideally within the biopharma industry, or a closely related scientific field. Expertise in digital tools and platforms is a must, as well as the ability to shape and inspire the communication of complex scientific and technological advancements.



YOUR TASKS:


Strategic Marketing & Product Planning:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to achieve client’s goals in the scientific sector, with a particular attention to biotechnology and drug discovery.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and needs in the evolution of Data/AI Products and Services.


Product & Service Development:

  • Drive the development of AI tools and services to optimize the scientific research process, enhance research dissemination, and use Data/AI to reduce the cost of performing science.
  • Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap, working closely with engineering teams
  • Provide user requirements and design feedback to the software development teams, ensuring solutions are user-centric and address real-world challenges.


Industry Interaction & Adoption:

  • Engage with key stakeholders in the biopharma and scientific industry, including researchers, academic institutions, publishers, and drive adoption of the solutions.
  • Develop and execute strategies to promote the adoption of new digital tools and services within the biopharma and academic communities.


Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Implement data analytics to track beta launch product usage, user behavior, market launch campaign effectiveness, and the impact of Data/AI-driven solutions on publishing outcomes.
  • Generate dashboards to communicate product performance and marketing insights.


Leadership & Management:

  • Representation at industry events, conferences, and workshops to showcase the solutions.
  • Constant collaboration with internal teams, including research, technology, and operations, to align product development and marketing efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the product development and marketing team



REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Business Administration, or a scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive product management and marketing experience, with a focus on technology-driven solutions.
  • A strong understanding of software development principles and Agile methodologies is essential, including writing user stories and managing product backlogs.
  • Experience in biopharma and/or academic landscape is a requirement.
  • Proven success in leading digital transformation initiatives and implementing technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing product and marketing teams.

Fiduciary Responsibility

Important Note: This is a C-Level position at a Venture Financed company, and you will be expected to work with the CEO in honest and transparently presenting the company’s status and development to the Board of Directors, Investors and Shareholders. This carries significant representative and fiduciary responsibility as an Officer of the company. Only candidates that have held such positions before or have demonstrated an impeccable track-record in positions of high responsibility will be considered for the C-Level position. Candidates you do not feel ready for this level of representation to Shareholders are encouraged to apply to the Senior Director position.
