Mira Energy Group (MEG) is a clean-technology startup building a software-first, scalable platform for secure, intelligent energy coordination and data integrity. Our core focus is decentralized, peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading enabled by permissioned blockchain, AI-optimized forecasting, and edge-enabled IoT intelligence, operating within real-world regulatory and grid constraints. We are assembling our founding executive team to deliver an MVP aligned with utilities, regulators, and investors as we prepare for an upcoming pre-seed capital raise.
Role Overview
MEG is seeking a hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead architecture, MVP execution, and early technical strategy. This is a founding executive role for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and can translate deep technical systems into credible, buildable products that investors and pilots can trust. You will work closely with the CEO and Board to define what gets built first, why it matters, and how it scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical architecture and MVP development for MEG's software IoT platform integration.
- Design and oversee systems involving:
- Permissioned blockchain (e.g., Hyperledger-style architectures)
- Smart contracts / auditable settlement logic
- AI/ML forecasting pipelines
- Edge and IoT data integration and ingestion
- Translate MEG's white paper vision into a credible, fundable MVP roadmap that aligns technical innovation with business goals.
- Establish early engineering standards, security posture, and scalability principles
- Protect the Company's intellectual property (patents) and lead R&D efforts to stay ahead of industry trends
- Collaborate with the CEO/Board to align platform development with market demands, budget, and business strategy. Support investor discussions by clearly articulating MEG's technical differentiation and defensibility
- Prepare the platform for regulated pilots with utilities, communities, and partners
Required Experience
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields preferred.
- 5+ years of R&D with a proven track record of successful product launches, and hands-on experience in:
- Python and/or C/C++
- Blockchain systems or distributed ledgers
- AI/machine learning (forecasting, optimization, or analytics)
- Experience designing or scaling complex software systems, and common hardware-software co-design knowledge is a plus
- Strong understanding of data integrity, security, and system implementation and auditability
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a startup environment, and to map technical advancements to market needs and company business goals.
Nice to Have
- Experience with energy systems, IoT, edge computing, or regulated industries
- Familiarity with smart meters, distributed systems, or real-time data pipelines
- Prior startup or early-stage leadership experience; proven ability to build, mentor, and lead technical teams, including hiring top talent.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to investors, board members, and stakeholders.
