Fractional Chief Marketing Officer (Interim)

3–6 Month Contract | Remote with Travel to Milwaukee, WI

A growing premium consumer products company is seeking a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer to provide executive marketing leadership during a critical transition period. This leader will step into an established marketing organization, providing direction, structure, and accountability while ensuring key initiatives continue to move forward as the company conducts its search for a permanent CMO.

This is an execution-focused leadership opportunity—not a turnaround or brand transformation. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on marketing executive who can quickly assess priorities, align the team, and drive results across multiple marketing channels.

What You'll Do

As the Fractional CMO, you'll serve as the senior marketing leader, partnering closely with executive leadership while managing an established team responsible for brand, digital, ecommerce, retail marketing, and social media.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and direction to the marketing organization.
  • Establish clear priorities, accountability, and operating rhythms across the team.
  • Ensure marketing campaigns and strategic initiatives already in motion are executed successfully.
  • Lead social media, content, and influencer marketing efforts to strengthen brand engagement.
  • Develop and oversee the annual marketing plan, including objectives, channel strategy, budgets, KPIs, and marketing calendar.
  • Manage the annual marketing budget and partner with Finance to monitor performance and optimize investments.
  • Support commercialization initiatives, product launches, and go-to-market planning across multiple business channels.
  • Improve project management processes using Asana or similar workflow tools to increase visibility, collaboration, and execution.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Ecommerce, Product Development, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure alignment across the business.
  • Analyze marketing performance and demand data to identify opportunities and recommend adjustments that drive business results.


Qualifications:

Required

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, including CMO, VP Marketing, or equivalent.
  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, wellness, lifestyle, or premium consumer brand experience.
  • Proven experience leading high-performing marketing teams within consumer products organizations.
  • Strong background in brand marketing, digital marketing, ecommerce, social media, and content strategy.
  • Experience developing integrated marketing plans and managing multi-million-dollar marketing budgets.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives while improving team alignment and operational efficiency.
  • Strong project management skills with experience implementing processes that improve accountability and execution.

Preferred

  • Omnichannel marketing experience across retail, ecommerce, and away-from-home channels.
  • Experience with influencer marketing and community engagement strategies.
  • Previous interim, fractional, or consulting leadership experience.
  • Experience with Asana, Monday.com, or similar project management platforms.


Position Details

  • Engagement: 3–6 month contract with potential for permanent hire
  • Location: Chicago area. Remote with periodic travel to Milwaukee, WI (Chicago-area candidates preferred)
