We are looking for long-term creative partners to build the visual world of THE BLUE LIGHT. First you will work on a 90 second-pilot. Once greenlit, we would like you to become part of the creative team for the whole series.
THE PROJECT
THE BLUE LIGHT is an animated dystopian thriller series, set in a sandstorm-ravaged London where liquid dreams allow people to escape reality, and a trained dreamwalker can jump between consciousnesses to solve mysteries.
Visual worlds:
* Reality: Orange/pink brutalist London. Rigid geometry. Landmarks half-buried in sand. Oppressive and suffocating.
* Dreamscape: Blue liquid memories. VHS grain, analog degradation, impossible physics. Nostalgic and melting.
* Characters: Bold linework, solid shadows, limited palettes. Mature, iconic, immediately memorable.
* Think: anime sensibility meets European comic boldness meets cyberpunk atmosphere.
WHAT WE NEED
Character Designer:
* Define key protagonists and ensemble cast
* Grounded modern anime aesthetic with bold graphic confidence
* Expression sheets, turnarounds, costume design
Concept Artist:
* Establish brutalist London and VHS dreamscapes
* Environmental mood, lighting, atmosphere
* Key locations: recording studio, London landmarks, impossible dreamscapes

HOW WE WORK
* Collaboratively with Creative Director and Head of Production
* Using NOMAD - our proprietary tech orchestrating traditional and AI tools for animation and distribution
* Digital-first distribution for streaming, expanding to all media
We're building a new model combining human artistry with production acceleration to create distinctive, high-quality work at scale.
THE DETAILS
* Phase 1: Pilot (4-6 weeks): Freelance contract, part-time, remote, project fee
* Phase 2: Series (if greenlit): Production Designer role (or equivalent), ongoing creative involvement, compensation TBD
