Hey there!

We’re Otterly, a subscription-based project management tool designed specifically for freelancers. Think of us as a all-in-one tool for managing clients, projects, and even collaborating on projects with other freelancers or clients, avoiding chaos and scattered information.

We’ve explored other tools out there, and they often have too many features for freelancers, or multiple tools are needed which are too expensive, or don’t fit the needs of solopreneurs.

We also believe it’s the right time to build a great European alternative to similar US-based companies.

Who we are

Our backgrounds are in tech, with experiences of almost a decade in Full Stack Development and over five years in Customer Support and Product Management. We have previous experience working in startup environments.

We’ve been in development for the past six months, and we’re now in the Beta phase looking for users while fixing bugs and improving the platform.

We will share with you a demo account and our current pitch deck.

Who we’re looking for

We need someone who complements our skills, with a Business, Marketing, or Sales background; to join us as an equal part co-founder, stepping into a CEO role.

Here’s what we’re hoping to find in you:

  • You’re passionate about driving business growth, taking Otterly from zero to its first paying customer.
  • You know how to get people talking about a product. Through marketing campaigns, partnerships, and creative strategies.
  • You are someone who is not afraid of challenges and is willing to learn and share knowledge.
  • Do you have experience with funding or raising capital? That’s a huge plus.

We focus on delivering a good product and taking care of customers, while you navigate the business and finance side.

What we’re offering

  • Equal partnership as a co-founder with a say in any major decisions.
  • The chance to build and shape a product that freelancers genuinely like and want to recommend to others.
  • A team that values your input and trusts your expertise.
  • Our current costs and expenses are really low, mainly going to the tech side (servers, domain, etc.).
  • A bootstrapped startup with eagerness to explore funding opportunities together.
  • We are fully remote and asynchronous, currently located in Germany and Spain.

Our values and expectations

  • We strongly believe in real diversity, equality, and inclusion. ****We do not tolerate bigotry!
  • Although we have already invested a lot of time and money in this product, we want to share ownership equally.
  • We are looking for someone with willingness to commit time to this endeavor without immediate financial returns.
  • We believe eight hours is plenty of time to be productive and get enough work done when there are not many distractions. This role requires full-time commitment (40 hours/week).
  • We want someone focused on our shared goals, flexible, honest, and transparent.
  • We wish to reach profitability as soon as possible. We’ve already integrated Stripe payments on the platform as the first step.

First 6 months priorities

  • Apply for possible startup grants offered by the state of Berlin.
  • Fix critical bugs and optimise the tech stack to improve stability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Relaunch our Beta platform and validate our core features, gather feedback and data.
  • Onboard early adopters and validate market fit, engaging with freelancers and refining the product based on real user feedback.
  • Test and refine our subscription-based revenue model (tiered pricing).
  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy, by setting up marketing campaigns, content strategies, and sales funnels.
  • Establish key partnerships, with communities or businesses to drive awareness and growth.
  • Learn and iterate.
  • Incorporate as UG first.
  • Lay the groundwork for possible fundraising.

Payment/Funding Opportunity

This role has the potential to be a paid position through the Berliner Startup Stipendium within a Berlin-based accelerator or incubator. You should not have been granted this Stipendium before.

What that means:

  • €2000 gross/month per founder for six months (with a possible six-month extension).
  • No equity required by the incubator or accelerator. We keep full ownership of Otterly.
  • You must have graduated (Bachelor or Master) within the last five years and be registered in Berlin.
  • The program will require some in-person attendance. We want to be a remote-first company eventually.
  • Certain deadlines and goals imposed by the accelerator must be met.
  • Access to office space, infrastructure, resources, mentoring/coaching, investors, and more.
  • We have the advantage of having more than an MVP and not being incorporated before the application.
