Business Development Executive – Life Sciences
Location: Netherlands
Are you a commercially driven Business Development professional with experience working with pharmaceutical and biotech customers?
We are hiring a high-energy, relationship-led Business Development Executive to join a global specialist logistics organisation supporting clinical trials, pharmaceutical supply chains and time-critical patient solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the pharma and biotech landscape and enjoys winning new business — whether your experience comes directly from clinical logistics or another part of the clinical development, clinical supply chain or life sciences services environment.
The Company
Our client is a specialist global logistics provider operating at the high-stakes end of life sciences, where precision, urgency and compliance are essential.
Trusted by pharmaceutical, biotech and clinical trial organisations worldwide, they support customers with the safe and compliant movement of critical, temperature-sensitive and time-sensitive materials.
The business is investing in commercial growth across Benelux and is expanding its Netherlands sales team.
The Role
This is a new-business-focused role with strong autonomy and visibility in the market.
You will be responsible for developing new customer relationships across the Netherlands, with a particular focus on biotech, small-to-mid-sized pharma and clinical-stage organisations.
You will identify opportunities, understand the challenges customers face as they develop and scale their programmes, and position World Courier as a trusted logistics partner.
Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you will work closely with operational and technical colleagues to build credible, tailored solutions for customers.
In this role, you will:
- Spend at least 50% of your time hunting for new business: prospecting, opening doors, meeting customers and converting opportunities
- Build and develop a strong pipeline of biotech, pharma and clinical research customers across the Netherlands
- Develop relationships with stakeholders across clinical operations, supply chain, procurement, quality, R&D and programme leadership
- Understand customer challenges and identify where specialist logistics can support clinical and commercial supply chains
- Lead consultative sales conversations and manage opportunities from initial outreach through to close
- Work with internal operational and technical teams to develop compelling customer solutions
- Represent the business at client meetings, conferences and industry events
- Take ownership of your territory, strategy and commercial results
What We’re Looking For
- Around 3–5 years of business development, sales or partnership experience, with evidence of winning new business
- A genuine hunter mindset — you enjoy prospecting, creating opportunities and closing deals
- Experience working with or selling into pharmaceutical, biotech, clinical research or life sciences customers
- Direct healthcare or clinical logistics experience is beneficial, but not essential
- We are also interested in candidates from other areas of the clinical development and supply chain ecosystem, including:
- CRO or clinical trial services
- Clinical supplies, packaging and labelling
- Central laboratory, preclinical or laboratory services
- Drug discovery, research services or biotech platforms
- Comparator sourcing, ancillary supplies or clinical technology
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing, CDMO or wider supply-chain services
- The ability to build credibility with both scientific/technical and commercial stakeholders
- Strong face-to-face relationship-building skills and willingness to be highly visible in the Dutch market
- A structured, target-driven and resilient approach, with pace and commercial urgency
- Fluency in Dutch and English is essential
What’s In It For You
- Competitive base salary and attractive incentive plan
- A highly visible role within an expanding commercial team
- The opportunity to build a career in specialist life sciences logistics with a global market leader
- Clear progression potential as the business continues to grow across Benelux
- A high-trust, high-accountability environment where your commercial impact will be recognised
If you are a life sciences sales professional who enjoys hunting for new business and wants to use your pharma/biotech knowledge in a specialist logistics environment, we would love to hear from you.
