We serve two client groups:
Investment funds — private equity and venture capital firms and their portfolio companies. We support the full investment lifecycle: ESG due diligence for M&A, ESG strategy and value creation across holdings, portfolio-level ESG data management, CSRD and SFDR readiness and reporting, and exit preparation that positions ESG credentials to maximise valuation.
Companies — agri-food businesses and companies in other sectors. We deliver double materiality assessments, ESG strategy and roadmaps, target and KPI setting with ROI analysis, climate risk and transition planning, carbon accounting and GHG management, supply chain sustainability and due diligence, policy development, CSRD gap analysis and reporting, and internal controls for ESG data quality and assurance readiness.

Role Description
We are looking for an independent, commission-based Business Developer experienced in sustainability & ESG to grow our client base: you earn a percentage of every project you bring in. The role is remote (focused on Europe) and structured as a freelance collaboration, compatible with other professional activities.
This is an entrepreneurial sales role, not a salaried position. It suits an experienced ESG professional with strong client relationships.
What you will do
Open doors: leverage your network and relationships to generate qualified leads among PE/VC funds, agri-food companies, and businesses in other sectors facing ESG and sustainability needs.
Qualify opportunities: together with our advisory lead, understand each prospect's situation — regulatory exposure, investor pressure, strategic ambitions — and identify which Argo ESG services create value.
Make the introduction and stay engaged: bring our advisory team into the conversation and support the process through to a signed engagement, working alongside us — Argo leads scoping, proposals, and pricing.
Represent Argo credibly with senior decision-makers: partners at funds, CEOs/CFOs, sustainability leads, and owners of mid-sized companies.
Feed market intelligence back to us: what prospects are asking for, where demand is shifting, and how our positioning lands.
Who we are looking for
A sustainability / ESG professional with a commercial track record — someone who has sold, scoped, or won ESG advisory work and knows the buyers. Specifically:
Solid working knowledge of the ESG landscape: strategy, reporting and compliance (CSRD, SFDR...), double materiality, carbon accounting, ESG due diligence — you can hold a substantive first conversation without support.
An understanding of what funds and companies typically need from ESG advisors at each stage; deep agri-food, renewables, energies, decarbonisation of industrial processes or PE/VC specialisation is preferred.
An existing network of relevant contacts — investors, corporates, or sustainability decision-makers — and the credibility to activate it.
A track record of winning new business in consultative, relationship-driven environments.
Fluent English; other European languages are a plus.
An entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with performance-based earnings.
