Overview
The Designer – Brand is a hands-on creative professional focused on high-end print design, with a primary emphasis on book cover design, layout systems, typography, and production oversight. This role blends strategic thinking with strong execution skills to ensure consistent, elevated brand expression across all deliverables while pushing creative quality within established guidelines.
This is a remote, 6+ months contract role supporting multiple portfolios and service lines, with collaboration across internal production teams and occasional coordination with external agency partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop premium book cover concepts and print layouts from ideation through final production files
- Collaborate with internal production and design teams on full book development, including page layout, template systems, typesetting oversight, and proofing stages
- Ensure all creative output aligns with brand guidelines while finding innovative and refined visual solutions within those standards
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and production quality across multiple concurrent projects
- Independently manage workload, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Provide creative oversight and direction to external agency partners when required
- Present design work and share best practices with internal teams
- Maintain strong brand consistency while continuously elevating design expression
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in design, advertising, publishing, or a related creative field
- Strong portfolio showcasing book design and print production work (required)
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign (including style sheets, templates, 4-color production, and print finishing workflows)
- Strong understanding of typography, layout systems, and print production processes
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- Experience working within established brand systems while producing elevated creative work
- Agency or publishing experience strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or related field
- Exposure to additional creative disciplines such as photography art direction, motion, digital, or integrated campaigns (secondary to print expertise)
- Experience in healthcare, publishing, or enterprise brand environments
