EmployAble is a purpose-driven organisation focused on enabling paid employment for adults with learning disabilities and autism, particularly those underserved by existing programmes.
The organisation is building a scalable supported employment model, working with both individuals and employers, with the ambition to drive meaningful, lasting change and influence broader employment practices over time.
The Role
EmployAble is seeking to appoint a Trustee with responsibility for Finance & Governance
This is a key Board appointment at an important stage of development. The successful candidate will provide financial oversight, governance support and strategic guidance, helping to ensure the organisation is robust, compliant and positioned for sustainable growth.
You will work closely with the CEO and fellow Trustees to support the ongoing development of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and reporting are in place
- Review management accounts and monitor financial performance
- Support the development of sustainable income streams
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements and best practice
- Support risk management and internal controls
- Contribute to strengthening governance structures
Board Contribution
Act as an active and engaged Board member
- Provide independent judgement and constructive challenge
- Attend monthly Board meetings (ideally in person in London)
External Contribution
- Support introductions, partnerships and fundraising where appropriate
- Leverage networks to support the organisation’s growth
Person Specification
Essential
- Qualified or experienced finance professional or accountant
- Strong understanding of financial governance and controls
- Experience operating at a senior leadership or Board level
- Sound judgement, integrity and a pragmatic approach
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Trustee or Treasurer
- Experience within charities, social impact or early-stage organisations
- Exposure to HR, recruitment or employment-related sectors
- Ability to support fundraising or strategic partnerships
Commitment
- Approx. 1 day per month
- Attendance at monthly Board meetings (London preferred)
