Salas O’Brien supports NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) across many avenues in Technical Services and Engineering through staff augmentation contracts that help manage and support their projects.


About the Role


NYSERDA’s Corporate Marketing team is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the build, deployment, optimization, and reporting of stakeholder email communications using Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This role is ideal for someone early in their career (1–3 years of experience) who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow their technical and analytical skills in a fast-paced marketing environment.

You’ll work remotely and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and accessible email campaigns that support NYSERDA’s mission and program initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage end-to-end execution of organic email marketing campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including build, design, segmentation, testing, deployment, and reporting.
  • Configure workflows, automations, audience segmentation, dynamic content, and campaign triggers.
  • Conduct A/B testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and deliverability monitoring to ensure best-in-class performance.
  • Analyze campaign performance using GA4, Marketing Cloud reporting, and other analytics tools; translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize email channels and improve engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure message alignment across digital channels.
  • Support broader Corporate Marketing initiatives and complete additional tasks as assigned.


Required Skills & Experience


  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in marketing, digital communications, or project coordination.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort collaborating in tools like Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience with project/task management platforms such as Asana, Lytho, or Monday.com.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, or Marketo.
  • Basic proficiency in HTML/CSS for email template editing and responsive design.
  • Experience with CRM systems and their integration with email marketing tools.
  • Ability to conduct QA, troubleshoot deployment issues, and run A/B tests.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and inform decisions.
  • Ability to learn and apply brand guidelines across content and design.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with best practices.


Specialized Knowledge (Preferred)


  • Understanding of email deliverability and compliance standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, GDPR, CAN-SPAM).
  • Familiarity with marketing technology stacks and basic data management concepts.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or Canva for light image editing.
  • Awareness of ADA Standards for Accessible Design and email accessibility best practices.


Education & Certifications

  • Associate’s Degree required
  • Salesforce certifications preferred
