🏔️ Relive

Relive is an app used by more than 20 million people to plan, track and share their outdoor adventures. We believe every outdoor activity has a story worth telling. That's why we help people capture and share their experiences in ways that bring memories to life and inspire others to get out there.

Relive is part of a growing family of outdoor, health & fitness apps. Together, we form a portfolio of products that support people in living their active lives. While each app has its own goals and identity, we collaborate across the portfolio - sharing knowledge, supporting each other, and building systems that help all our apps thrive.

🧑‍🏫 Analytics Engineer

In this position, you'll join the Data & Analytics team working to scale our data capabilities not just for Relive, but across our entire suite of apps. This is a unique opportunity as the first analytics role with portfolio-wide responsibilities, while being anchored within the Relive organisation.

As a data-driven company, we rely heavily on our modern cloud analytics platform for decision making. As Analytics Engineer, you'll help teams throughout the organisation generate insights by providing usable, reliable, and well-documented data products created using DBT. You'll also play a pivotal role in establishing data foundations for two new apps scheduled to launch in the second half of this year.

If you’re passionate about democratising data, engineering robust pipelines, and elevating data literacy company‑wide, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

💡 What would I work on

As an Analytics Engineer, you will:

  • Establish a Data Foundation for New Apps. Architect and implement data models, mart tables, reusable logic and orchestration from scratch for brand‑new apps, two are planned to be launched in the second half of this year.
  • Drive a Self‑Serve Analytics Environment. Develop well‑structured, documented data products and semantic models that facilitate self-serve analytics and lay the foundation for AI solutions and integration of AI in analytics workflows (e.g. text-to-SQL)
  • Enhance Existing Data Products and Flow. Suggest and implement improvements on discoverability, usability, performance and maintainability of existing data assets and transformation flows.
  • Champion Data Literacy Across the Organization. Serve as an internal consultant to teams: lead office hours, workshops, advise on e.g. data management and dashboard best practices.

⭐ The highlights

  • We're expanding our footprint in the outdoor community. Beyond Relive, our portfolio already includes JOIN, and we're developing additional apps that will serve different aspects of outdoor activity and wellness. You'll be at the forefront of building data foundations that will help shape multiple products and reach millions of additional users.
  • We work in empowered and autonomous teams. Teams are given clear focus areas, ambitious objectives, and the safety and trust to do amazing things. This gives everyone a chance to focus on having an impact rather than wasting time with meetings and red tape.
  • Relive is growing really fast. We grow 100% organically, our users love our product and share it with their friends and family.
  • Our user base with over 20 million users generates a huge amounts of data, with over a billion activities in our databases and millions of events tracked daily. And the teams want to have it all! This is a chance to develop your skills in processing massive amounts of data by optimizing the use of and introduction of new state-of-the-art tooling. You'll never have to worry about new challenges to solve.
  • You'll contribute to all analytical processes across the organization - you'll help teams in use cases around attribution, user activation, monetization, high-scale A/B testing on millions of users and more.
  • If you want to work on a consumer product with insane growth and are ready to grow yourself and learn faster than you could ever imagine then Relive could be the place for you.

🔭 What we're looking for

👍 Our Analytics Engineer is:

  • Passionate about the craft of building high-quality and sustainable data models that serve as a single source of truth for key decisions across the organization. Curious and forward-thinking, continuously looking for ways to improve how we work and deliver value
  • A hands-on data modeler, living and breathing in dbt and SQL, not afraid to dive into new challenges. You love decomposing tricky problems and work towards clean solutions.
  • A proactive collaborator, partnering daily with analysts, platform engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • A T-shaped person, with broad interest in the data & analytics space, able to bridge the gap between data engineers and analysts, and a few areas where you can go really deep.
  • An Analytical translator, helping teams in various focus areas to translate business concepts to data products. Assessing the usability of solutions and understanding the impact of technical decisions we make.
  • A Pioneer at heart, excited to break new ground. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, eager to lay solid foundations, and keen to shape the culture and best practices around data analytics in our organization.

👎 On the flip side, our Analytics Engineer is not:

  • Easily satisfied at the moment code "seems to be working". Instead, you want to understand how and why things work so you can make the right technological trade-offs.
  • Hacking their way out of problems and challenges resulting in processing flows that are not robust, transparent or sustainable. Instead, you should reevaluate plans proactively and explore alternative solutions together with stakeholders.
  • Hesitant of speaking up. Teams know what analytics needs they have, but often don't think about the technical implications. You should feel comfortable to challenge plans of the teams and bring a alternative solutions to the table
  • Unstructured. The organization will rely on the solutions you deliver. A structured way-of-working is required to create transparency and manage expectations. On top of that, we've got a lot of data, with a lack of structure, you will easily get lost.
  • A "Ticket Processor". You're not blindly following ad-hoc requests without considering the bigger picture. Instead, you're focused on finding smarter, more efficient solutions that not only solve the problem but also empower others to handle similar issues independently in the future.

🙋 Who you are

These are some things we would like to see. Don't let it hold you back if you don't tick every single box!

  • 3+ years in an Analytics Engineering role in a fast-paced, product-driven environment
  • Strong SQL skills and experience modeling data using dbt
  • Experience with modern orchestration tools like Airflow, and cloud warehouses like Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery
  • Familiar with engineering best practices like version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD
  • Able to collaborate with business stakeholders to define and create actionable data solutions
  • Great communicator and collaborator, confident working cross-functionally
  • Detail-oriented with a love for clean, scalable data systems
  • Comfortable using Python for data transformations or workflow tooling
  • Bonus: Experience with behavioral event data (e.g. Snowplow) and subscription data

👋 Remote first

We believe working at Relive should, just like our product, help you lead a healthy and happy life. It's important to be able to work flexibly - where you work, when you work. Being able to head out for a run to clear your head, or being able to work from nature for a few weeks per year. How much time you spend in front of your keyboard isn't what matters.

That's why we work Remote first. It means our way of working enables remote working for everyone. It's up to you where and when you want to work. We trust you to spend your time wisely. All our rituals and teams are designed for remote working.

You can work in any country in the +/- 1 hour CET time zone range, as we've not mastered the art of working across many timezones and we don't plan to invest our time in that challenge in the next few years.

Like to have a change of scenery? You can work from any co-working space, no matter where you're located. We'll cover these costs.

We expect everyone on the team to get together a few times a year as we think it's important to make in-person bonds to strengthen our relations. That means a few times a year you can expect to travel to spend time with your team, make connections, and have fun together.

For candidates based in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, we offer a hybrid working setup with the option to work from our Amsterdam office anytime you want.
