Role Overview
CMSD invites applications for the position of Advisor – Compliance & Strategic Investments, a senior advisory role focused on strengthening institutional governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic engagement opportunities.
The role is primarily advisory in nature, providing guidance and expertise on compliance-related matters, organizational development, and institutional engagement. The selected candidate will advise CMSD leadership on governance frameworks, regulatory considerations, and opportunities to strengthen the organization's long-term sustainability and international presence.
This position is suited for individuals with substantial professional or academic experience in compliance, governance, legal affairs, institutional development, strategic investments, philanthropy, or stakeholder engagement. Candidates with experience working with think tanks, non-profit organizations, foundations, government organisations or investment institutions are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on compliance, governance, and regulatory matters relevant to think tanks, research institutions, and non-profit organizations.
- Advise CMSD leadership on organizational structuring, registration considerations, and institutional best practices across relevant jurisdictions.
- Provide insights on governance frameworks, accountability mechanisms, and long-term institutional sustainability.
- Offer strategic perspectives on philanthropic ecosystems, sovereign wealth funds, foundations, and institutional stakeholders relevant to CMSD's areas of work.
- Advise on opportunities for partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and long-term organizational development.
- Share expertise and recommendations on international best practices relating to governance, compliance, and institutional growth.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree, ongoing PhD, or equivalent advanced academic or professional experience in Law, Public Policy, Governance, International Relations, Finance, Compliance, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance frameworks, governance structures, regulatory environments, or organizational development processes.
- Strong analytical and advisory capabilities, with the ability to provide strategic recommendations on institutional matters.
- Prior experience working with think tanks, foundations, NGOs, research institutions, investment organizations, or related entities is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Experience advising organizations on governance, compliance, stakeholder engagement, or institutional development is an advantage.
