Role Overview
As a College Counselor (Educational Consultant), you will be the trusted mentor guiding students and families through the college admissions process, from early candidacy building to crafting compelling applications. You will work closely with students and their parents, ensuring they stay on track and feel supported throughout the journey.
You’ll meet regularly with students to provide individualized mentorship and meet with families to keep them engaged in the process. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment, is passionate about helping students succeed, and wants to be part of a tight-knit, high-impact team.
What You’ll Do
- Expertly support students – Guide students through candidacy development, extracurricular strategy, and application execution to ensure they submit standout applications
- Meet regularly with students – Provide ongoing guidance and structured support throughout the admissions process
- Engage with families – Schedule and lead family meetings to ensure parents are informed, engaged, and aligned with their student’s progress
- Essay Guidance & Feedback – Help students craft compelling personal statements and supplemental essays, ensuring authenticity and impact
- Passion Project Development – Assist students in identifying, refining, and executing meaningful projects that align with their interests and strengthen their applications
- Application & School List Strategy – Help students select reach, target, and safety schools and optimize their applications for the best results
- Parent & Student Communication – Keep families engaged and informed, ensuring they feel supported throughout the process
- Collaborate with Mentors & Internal Teams – Work closely with project mentors, application specialists, and other team members to ensure holistic student success
How You’ll Know You’re Crushing It
- Expertly support students through their journey, ensuring strong applications and profile development
- Consistently meet with students and families, maintaining engagement and momentum
- Excellent student and family feedback, as determined by session feedback and NPS (Net Promoter Score)
- Adherence to established service protocols, maintaining timely responses and delivering a top-tier counseling experience
What Skills And Experience You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree from a top 20 US university (special consideration given to those with undergraduate admissions consulting backgrounds)
- Experience with US admissions for top universities
- Passion for coaching young adults and appreciation of global perspectives
- Superior planning and organizational skills; experience in project management, event coordination, or product management is a plus
- Strong written and oral communication skills—must be able to provide clear, structured feedback on essays and applications
- Stakeholder management – Ability to collaborate with internal teams, students, and parents to ensure a seamless counseling experience
- Resilience when working independently under pressure – Flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced, growing organization
- Experience in education, coaching, tutoring, or admissions consulting preferred
