About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant Assistant to join our finance team. This role is essential in supporting daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. The successful candidate will assist with invoice management, journal entries, purchase order processing, bank and credit card reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their accounting skills within a dynamic and socially responsible organization. The role can be based on-site or remotely, providing flexibility to the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping (internship experience acceptable)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and journal entries
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar
  • Knowledge of accounts payable processes and month-end closing procedures
  • Problem-solving mindset with initiative to improve processes

Responsibilities

  • Register and process vendor invoices accurately and promptly
  • Prepare and post journal entries for expenses, accruals, and routine transactions
  • Assist in creating purchase orders and ensure proper documentation before submission to suppliers
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify transactions and resolve discrepancies
  • Reconcile corporate credit card transactions, verify supporting documentation, and ensure correct expense coding
  • Support month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and adjustments
  • Maintain organized records of invoices, purchase orders, and financial documents
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding purchase orders, invoices, and payments
  • Assist in audits, reporting, and other special projects as assigned by the finance team
